How to remove an object from a video with AI (no masking)
Trim the clip to under ten seconds, open Colurvist's prompt editor, and type what should disappear — “remove the bin on the right”. The shot is re-rendered with the object gone and the background filled in. About two minutes, no rotoscoping.
- Trim to the moment. Generative edits on Colurvist run on clips up to 10 seconds, so cut the shot down to the part that has the object in it first. Longer footage: split it in the editor and send just the piece.
- Open the prompt editor. Go to colurvist.com/prompt-edit and drop the clip on the stage, or press Upload.
- Describe the removal in plain words. Type what should go and where it is: “remove the man in the red jacket on the left”, “take out the microphone at the top of frame”, “remove the car parked behind her”. Be specific about position; the model uses it.
- Run it. Press send. The clip is re-rendered with the change applied and the rest of the shot kept as it was. The cost shows on the button first; a failed run is not charged.
- Check the fill. Scrub the result. Look at what replaced the object — background, shadow, reflection. If something is off, re-run with a more specific prompt (“…and keep the wet pavement reflection”).
- Send it to the timeline. Press Continue to editor. The cleaned clip lands on the track in place of the original, ready to grade and export.

Name the object, its position, and what should be there instead. The third part is what separates a clean fill from a smudge.

Do I have to mask the object?
No. On Colurvist you describe the object in words and the model finds it. There is no rotoscoping and no mask painting.

Can I remove an object from a photo?

Does it work on moving objects?
Yes. The model re-renders every frame, so an object that crosses the shot is removed across its whole path. Very fast motion or heavy motion blur can leave traces; a second pass usually clears them.
