Colurvist vs CapCut: what each one is actually for

CapCut is a template-first editor built for phones and social feeds. Colurvist is a browser editor built around generating footage with AI models and grading it like film. They overlap on cutting and captions; they are not trying to be the same product.

Where CapCut wins

Speed on a phone. If the job is a 20-second vertical clip with a trending sound, auto-cut to the beat, stickers and a template that already looks like the feed, CapCut gets there in two minutes and Colurvist does not try to. It is also part of the same company as TikTok, which shows in how directly it publishes there.

Where Colurvist wins

Making footage that does not exist yet. Colurvist is a front door to the major generative video models on one credit balance: a Veo shot, then a Kling close-up of a real person, then a Seedance 4K master, each priced on the button before you press it. That footage lands on the timeline, not in a download folder.

Grading like a colorist. Curves, real scopes and LUT export are the tools a grade actually needs and are rare outside desktop software. The 80 looks preview on frames pulled from your own clip.

Editing by description. Upload a clip, type “remove the car on the left” or “make it rain”, and the footage is re-rendered with the change. No masking.

Using both

Plenty of people will. Generate and grade in Colurvist, export, then finish in CapCut for the platform-specific dressing. Colurvist's export presets for TikTok, Reels and Shorts exist for exactly that handoff.

Questions

Is Colurvist a CapCut alternative?

For generating footage with AI and grading it like film, yes. For template-driven social clips with stickers and trending sounds, CapCut is still the better fit. They overlap on cutting, captions and export.

Does Colurvist have a free plan?

Every account starts with 150 free credits, and editing — cutting, grading, captions, export — costs nothing. Credits are only spent on AI generation.

Can I use Colurvist on my phone?

It runs in a browser, and the editor works on a tablet; the timeline is built for a wide screen. CapCut's phone app is the stronger mobile experience.

Does Colurvist watermark exports?

No. Exports carry no watermark on any plan, including the free credits.
